I am based in the Central Florida area.  I am an ASHA certified Speech Language Pathologist. I grew up in Orlando and went from Kindergarten to grad school right here in my hometown.

As a child, I aspired to be a teacher. As I became older, I realized there were children that were falling through the cracks. Through no fault of their own, teacher were just not equipped to fully support their needs.  I decided I wanted to help those children and pursued an education in Speech-Language Pathology.

I quickly learned that an SLP is much more than just “speech”. I was educated in various areas that fall under the umbrella of “Speech-Language Pathology”.  This included learning about strokes, aphasia, dementia, dysphagia, audiology, as well as sound production, speech, articulation, pragmatics, and language.

I was never one that enjoyed science and medical classes, but somehow found myself applying for a full time internship at Orlando Regional Medical Center at the tail end of graduate school.  I cried every day the first two weeks at the hospital and then something happened. I had that “Ah-ha” moment as Oprah says. Everything I learned in those medical courses came together all at once now that I could put a face to it. It is easy to focus on just the symptoms and characteristics of a disorder, but it makes all the difference to connect with the person.  I am pleased to say that ORMC was one of the best experiences I have had even though it was the one I never saw myself chasing.

Shortly after this, I applied for my Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) at a skilled nursing facility in St. Augustine, Florida. I spent 3 years there tending to the “Greatest Generation” and realized I missed working with children.

I moved back to Central Florida and began working at The Felice Center for Pediatric Rehabilitation in Winter Park.  I built my pediatric caseload while working per diem at skilled nursing facilities within the Orlando area to maintain my skill set in both demographics.  I eventually found my way to Kidz Therapy Zone, a pediatric private practice located in Winter Garden.  Just before stepping out on my own, I spent time working for Advent Health Sports Med and Rehab in outpatient pediatric rehabilitation.

I am proud to say I have now been serving the Central Florida area for the past 12 years.
